A domestic terror attack took place in the early morning of Saturday, July 14th, 2019. 69 year old Antifa member Willem Van Spronsen stormed a Washington ICE center wielding a rifle and "incendiary devices". Claiming to be "fighting the forces of evil", Van Spronsen attacked at 4 a.m. with intentions of blowing up the ICE detention center, murdering ICE officers and killing anyone who stood in his path. The Antifa member's plan was stopped by police as multiple gunshot wounds took Van Sprosen's life.
"I don’t believe in concentration camps" were the last words heard by the Antifa attacker. Not long ago, AOC had falsely accused ICE detention centers of acting as concentration camps in a statement that has been widely disproved and discredited.
AOC has never personally called for violence or encouraged acts of violence against ICE or another organization. Van Spronsen was a man with a history of mental disorder and criminal troubles. As part of a court order, Van Spronsen was barred from owning firearms due to multiple domestic disputes and concerns from authorities. Nevertheless, implementing a "gun ban" on this person had absolutely no restraint on his ability to acquire firearms, ammunition and to create flammable devices such as Mazel Tov cocktails. He was even placing flares in “strategic locations”, including underneath a 500-gallon propane tank. Thankfully, all of his efforts were unsuccessful and no innocent people were harmed.
Was the false accusation of ICE facilities acting as concentration camps the final straw for Van Strosen's breakdown? We may never know, therefor it would be unfair to blame this man's death and failed terrorist attack on AOC. He was clearly a radical left man who was inspired to take action based on the rhetoric being thrown around, but by no means did AOC influence that action to be violent rather than peaceful. Regardless, these are the dangers we face when untrue statements and fake news are being pushed to emotionally incite people rather than intellectually intrigue them.
Now, how about the group from which Van Strossen belonged ? Antifa. Well, we can accurately say that this radical far-left organization does support the far-left members of Congress and the media. This is not a comparison such as the far-right and Trump, as Trump has literally disavowed and acted against everything the far-right would stand for (antisemitism, racism, a strong central government). Antifa identically supports everything that the new Democrats of congress represent including the Green New Deal, open borders and full blown socialism. However there is 1 public distinction between Antifa and liberal congresspeople: Openness to violence.
Antifa has praised the terrorist Van Strosen by classifying him as a martyr. Antifa social media accounts identified the terrorist as their "fallen comrade”. They believe that acts of terrorism and violence are essential to "stopping fascism". They actually believe that their violence is justified based on some sort of greater good and moral oversight. They happily support slogans such as "It takes a bullet to bash a fash" and cannot stop honoring Van Sprosen with now viral memorial slogan to their "fallen comrade" reading "Rest In Power". So are AOC's supporters happy about this domestic terrorist attack? So happy that they are praising it and encouraging further action to be taken.
